al-Masjid al-Awwal (First Muslim Mosque of Pittsburgh) is a tax-exempt public charity registered with the federal government. Donors can deduct contributions they make to 1MM under IRC Section 170. Our Employer ID number is: 82-3825300.

After the aid of Allaah, we rely solely on Sadaqah (charitable) contributions from the community. We do not accept donations from anyone connected to organizations which misrepresent Islam including, but not limited to ISIS, Al Qaeda, the so-called “Muslim Brotherhood” and their offshoots.

1MM will ONLY accept Zakaatul Maal donations via the following means:

We can no longer accept nor distribute any Zakaatul Maal via electronic banking apps such as CashApp or PayPal.

Importantly, all Zakaatul Maal transactions MUST be noted: “Zakaatul Maal” in the memo field. Thank you for your cooperation and may Allaah bless your wealth!

Zakaat monies may not be used for general maintenance of the masjid. If you would like our assistance in discharging zakaat monies to legitimate recepients, you must clearly indicate that when submitting your amount.
